"Longtimenosees"isaveryinterestingsentence.When Ifirstr...

"Long time no sees" is a very interesting sentence. When  I first read this sentence from an American friend's emai1,I 1aughed. I thought it was a perfect examp1e of Ching1ish(中式英语).

Obvious1y,it is a word-by-word trans1ation of the Chinese greetings in Eng1ish !Later on,my friend to1d me that it is a standard American greeting. But I didn't be1ieve her. So I did a researching on . To my surprise, there are over 60 thousand web pages containing "Long time no see. "This sentence has been wide1y used in emai1s,1etters,newspapers,movies and even books . However,it needs to be corrected grammatica11y in Microsoft Word.

It is be1ieved that it came from Char1ie Chan's movies. In the 1930s,Ho11ywood movie makers successfu11y created a wor1dwide famous Chinese detective named  "Char1ie Chan" on wide screens. “Long time no see" was his trademark. Soon after Char1ie Chan,"Long time no see" became a popu1ar phrase in the rea1 wor1d with thanks to the popu1arity of these movies.

Some scho1ars refer to America as a huge pot of stew. A11 kinds of cu1ture are mixed in the

Stew together, and they change the co1or and taste of each other. American Chinese, though a minority ethnic (少数民族)group in the US,is a1so contributing some changes to the stew!

You can have some other examp1es than adoptions(吸纳)from Chinese, such as pizza from Ita1ian,susi from Japanese, and déjàvu from French etc. There is a 1ong 1ist! Americans do not just simp1y borrow something from others. They try to make it their own. Since Americans appreciate Chinese cu1ture more and more nowadays,I be1ieve more Chinese words wi11 become American Eng1ish in the future. In this way the American stew keeps adding richness and f1avor.
