Getting back to your question about the trend, I would say that yes, IntelliJ IDEA is already a cross-language IDE, and is going to continue being such.
IntelliJ IDEA 9 is the first non-beta release which includes the free and open-source Community edition and the Ultimate edition, first reported by InfoQ a couple months ago.
