I use a relatively heavy foot and stipple deeply at around 4200 strokes per minute.
Decreasing stroke rate by 3-8 strokes per minute to allow for a long, smooth, rolling stroke.
Crews cover the middle 1000 metres at about 40 strokes per minute, but, over the first and last 500 metres, shift up a gear to as many as 47.
