One obvious answer is the sheer size of the asset class.
And China's sheer size makes it a more plausible challenger than a relatively small nation, such as Japan.
But this is not a permanent fix. The sheer size of their needs would soon test the generosity of the authorities-and make a mockery of politicians' claims to have fixed too-big-to-fail finance.
