A member of an irregular, usually indigenous military or paramilitary unit operating in small bands in occupied territory to harass and undermine the enemy, as by surprise raids.
The government's main worry remains the mutiny, in which at least 70 people were killed, including the head of the BDR and around 50regular army officers seconded to the paramilitary unit.
