Long long ago, crow was a very beautiful bird. She liked to be beautiful, and always stood in front of the mirror to show her slim body. And she loved to sing songs which made her neighbors feel relaxed and happy.

One day, tiger, the king of the forest, decided to have a beauty contest, and any of the animals in the forest could take part in it. Peacock, lark, cuckoo …… all the animals were excited about the news. They all took an active part in the contest and dressed themselves the most beautifully. Crow was one of the contestants. She spent a lot of money and tried her best.

The day of the beauty contest arrived. All the contestants showed their beauty besides knowledge, skills and talents. Crow and peacock went into the final round. After the performance, the audience and the judges were discussing about their final choice when the two contestants went to the back stage. The Crow worried she would lose the match. She thought,” If I lose the match, all my friends will look down upon me. They’ll never listen to me and play with me.” She Burned herself with jealousy and a person driven by jealousy was capable of anything. Then she set a fire to the peacock’s room in silence.

Finally, when the host announced that the beauty queen went to the crow, all the audience cheered up. But no one knew the crow had lost her beautiful feathers and lovely voice. Because the fire she set widely spread including her own room and she was badly burnt.
